Brand Profile
A graduate of both CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS and the ÉCOLE des BEAUX-ARTS de PARIS, Praline Le Moult draws on her family history to create what she describes as ‘activewear in retro cuts’.
Praline Le Moult’s great-grandfather was the French naturalist EUGÈNE LE MOULT, who was as famous for hunting butterflies as he was for his custom-made wardrobe. Praline inherited his expansive clothing collection, and is using the original cuts to create a range of unisex home-adventure-wear in contemporary fabrics.
EUGÈNE LE MOULT was the world’s most famous butterfly-hunter and owned the largest private collection.
Eugène grew up in DEVIL’S ISLAND, French Guiana in the Amazon, then the world’s most famous supermax prison colony.
E. Le Moult had clothes tailored for himself to wear on the ocean-liner to South America, and when hunting and sleeping in the jungle. On these expeditions Eugène shared his tents with his convict helpers, most of which had been convicted of murder (see “Papillon” book or movies with STEVE MCQUEEN and DUSTIN HOFFMAN or CHARLIE HUNNAM and RAMI MALEK)
Projet Le Moult reworks the ORIGINAL WARDROBE of E. Le Moult in 100% SOUTH-INDIAN COTTON, grown on the fields used for the original British colonial pyjamas, woven to OUR OWN DESIGNS on nearby looms and sewn up the coast in cosmopolitan Bombay.
