Brand Profile
Bluchers is one of the typical styles of men’s shoes. It is named after Prussia’s Field Marshal Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, who is known for fighting the Battle of Waterloo against Napoleon, whose name is also used for a type of boots. Many types of footwear bare the names that are related to soldiers or the military. Historically, fighting inevitably involved marching, and so, the military and the shoe industry were inseparable. MIYAGI KOGYO was founded in 1941 by Akira Takahashi at the request of the military. The company relocated to its current base of operations in Yamagata Prefecture in 1945. In recent years, it has worked hard day and night in the pursuit of making shoes based on the concept of “Good shoes & Right shoes,” meaning shoes with good design and materials, and shoes with the right fit that do not hurt the feet. The company has polished its expert shoemaking techniques in many ways, including serving as an OEM to numerous Japanese designer brands.
