Manuel Ritz’s SS22 collection shoots for timelessly elegant versatility

Exhibitors Spotlight focuses on a selection of brands exhibiting at this year's Pitti Uomo, showcasing their upcoming collections and special upcoming projects.

Warmer climates call for sartorial adjustments, not just in fabric and shapes, but also in concept and spirit. For the hot season, versatile and modular materials come coupled with more luminous palettes poised to uplift the mood and accommodate the amped-up pace of our everyday lifestyle as it sheds its sedentary veneer in favor of an action-geared quotidian.
A sophisticated producer of classic Italian ready-to-wear, Manuel Ritz’s namesake label has been operating since the 1970s. With roots in the heart of Bologna, the menswear brand has over the years cemented a reputation in designing based on a philosophy of daily elegance — today boosted and improved with a series of brand new technology and fabric innovations making each design more suited to the rhythm, taste and stringent environmental demands of contemporaneity.
The brand’s SS22 collection proudly celebrates the increasingly blurry line separating business from leisurewear, taking into account the significant seasonal transition towards a casual sartorial mood. The garments are inspired by a life-lived outdoors — city-geared workwear is softened with a rustic edge, with an added series of utilitarian details such as multi-functional pockets on jackets, shirts, and pants.
This season also sees the launch of Manuel Ritz’s first entirely sustainable capsule collection, bearing the name Eco-Logico, and consisting of four pieces in recycled and certified-organic cotton and a white monochromatic palette. In addition, the label’s heritage is honored with a capsule denim line, and a variety of revamped styles inspired by the Italian countryside, the adventurous spirit of summer, and the urban environment alike.
Through its dynamic, transversal, and classic apparel, Manuel Ritz’s latest collection appeals to the “conscious consumer, attentive to the purchase of a garment made to last,” says Head of Style Luca Palmucci.
On their new capsule collection, he says, “The solution for our brand was right in our past, in the great historical archive of Manuel Ritz Rirò. We, therefore, chose the path of enhancing our history according to a principle of continuity, where tradition is renewed with an eye to the past but looking to the future. The capsule collection recalls archival garments reworked in a contemporary key.” These Made in Italy garments include staples such as jackets, washed shirts, sweatshirts, and T-shirts all presented alongside their main player, the denim. The pieces come together to appeal to a new refreshing type of consumer who has arisen over the last two years who is more focused on timeless pieces that last.
