The 032c WORKSHOP x sloggi Collab Is Pure Poetry

Exhibitors Spotlight focuses on a selection of brands exhibiting at this year's Pitti Uomo, showcasing their upcoming collections and special upcoming projects.

“Sloggi isn’t really a shapewear brand,” the brand explains when we sit down to discuss its new collaboration with Berlin-based culture platform 032c. “We try hard to make products for people the way they are rather than change their shape. We were originally set up in the 1970s to make use of an at-the-time cutting edge innovation in textiles that meant you could finally have comfortable cotton underwear, and since then we have been led by how we can make the most of innovations in textiles and manufacturing to make people comfortable.”

For many, Sloggi is the OG of comfort-first underwear brands — a sector that has grown exponentially over the last years. Its history of innovation and thought-leadership is what eventually lead to the link-up with 032c, a brand that, as Sloggi explains, is helmed by “people who are as invested as we are in new ideas to make people’s lives more comfortable. We’re 032c fans. Everyone here has admired 032c and their commitment to the culture for a long time; Maria and Joerg [Koch] are inspiring in the way that they connect with a global audience of motivated, engaged, creative thinkers and in the way they have taken their idea into so many different executions. This partnership came about organically from ongoing conversations between our teams but if it hadn’t, we would have had to make it happen.”

The full 032c WORKSHOP x sloggi collaboration will be exhibited at Pitti 101 and, given the size of the capsule, “every piece is absolutely key.” The collection is one that focuses on loungewear (as opposed to solely underwear) and, when we ask if there is one standout item, they explain that a black “blanket” top is the piece that truly “embodies the philosophy” of the entire project. “It's a poncho cut in sweatshirt terry [fabric], and it's one size fits all, which really reflects the ideas of flexibility and community in the collection. It's the perfect example of how we are exploring comfort and protection, softness and structure in the same pieces, in everything that's in the collection.”
It was Maria Koch who led the development of the collections. “She focused the collection on essential, elevated basics that bring to life the Sloggi innovation and comfort ethos through the lens of the 032c culture. The creative inspiration for the collection is summed up as ‘Limit everything but bare essentials. But don’t remove the poetry.’”
