Inis Meáin Knitting Company was founded on the island in 1976 by Tarlach de Blácam and Áine Ní Chonghaile, inspired by the unique spirit, environment and heritage of the place. Second generation Ruairí and Marie-Thérèse de Blacam took over the running of the company in 2022. We are proud to supply our knitwear from our Aran Island's workshop to some of the finest stores and loyal customers across the world, while maintaining the tradition of design and sustainable craftsmanship in this special and unique location.

We design and produce individual, unique pieces of knitwear in the finest yarns, all exquisitely finished by hand in very small batches. We delve into the rich knitting heritage of the island for inspiration, reinterpreting traditional stitches and styles to create beautiful, authentic and sophisticated garments for contemporary living.
