Florence and Pitti Immagine will host, on Wednesday 2 September and Thursday 3 September, the High-Quality Tailoring and Haute Couture events of Dolce&Gabbana: a tribute to the history, art, and timeless elegance of the city and skill of its artisan workshops.
The events will be broadcasted in live streaming: the Alta Sartoria event will be available to watch online at this link on 2 September at 8.35pm; the Alta Moda event will be available to watch online at this link on 3 September at 8pm.
The creations of the two fashion designers will be presented in a fashion show together with those of a selected group of artisans chosen by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, with visits to their shops, which represent the excellence and know-how of the most authentic Florentine tradition and the top-of-the-line of Made in Italy that gives rise to artistic expression. The human touch has always been an important value for Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Their ideas pass through the capable hands of trusted master craftsmen who, with love, passion, and dedication give life to “Beauty”.
The events - that will be transmitted in streaming on the Pitti Immagine and Dolce&Gabbana web platforms - are promoted by the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana and by Pitti Immagine in collaboration with the City of Florence, and developed with the contribution of Fondazione Pitti Discovery, the extraordinary grant of the ICE Agency and with the extremely valuable support of Ente Cassa di Risparmio Firenze.
The locations that will host the events are still to be confirmed and will be announced in a follow-up communication.
“We are very happy that our up-and-coming Haute Couture events will be held in Florence, a city we genuinely love and which, in this moment, has a special value”, comment Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. “Florence is the birthplace of the Renaissance, of the essence of being Italian, and of ancient knowledge that is handed down and which continues to transfer its influence to contemporary culture and aesthetics. Bringing our work to iconic places in the city is a dream come true. Even more so is the ability to work in close contact with the city’s artisans, who preserve valuable and timeless know-how in their shops. We would like to thank Florence and Pitti Immagine for this opportunity; together we will give life to a new Renaissance, a new Rebirth that is completely Italian”.
“International spotlights are once again turned on Florence, thanks to an event that will bring the attention of the international press and guests to the city and its artisanal excellences. An incredible opportunity for everyone” says Antonella Mansi, President of the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana. “Dolce and Gabbana are not just two of the most well-known and highly appreciated fashion designers, but also represent the contemporary spirit of Made in Italy. Linking their name with Florentine artisans, who for centuries have been internationally exporting the fruit of their valuable processes and unique techniques, represents both a driving image and economic force not only for these shops, but also for the entire city and those who work in close connection with international presences. Florence, with its productive fabric and tourist facilities, has the right resources for reconfirming its role. It’s already doing so”.
“The Dolce&Gabbana special event represents a strongly optimistic message arriving from the fashion system. It is the signal that we are back up and running and ready to restart” comments Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine. “We are honored to host a show which, through the unmistakable calling card of one of the most important Italian brands, celebrates fashion, modern elegance, sartorial values and the cultural contents that Pitti Immagine promotes and supports. These events will be the link between the completely virtual edition of our shows and the city of Florence, which we have always considered a fundamental partner in carrying out our trade fair activities. It will accompany and convey value to the summer collections and firms present on the Pitti Connect digital platform, while also presenting a preview of the climate we will return to experience in January with the reopening of the physical trade shows for the winter collections. It will be a fashion show that will leave its mark behind”.
“An event, the first live one to take place since the outbreak of the Covid emergency, which fills us with pride, because it is a sign of the attention being shown by the world of fashion to the restart of the city after the pandemic, with our ‘Rebirth of Florence’ project meeting up with qualified and across-the-board interest”, comments mayor Dario Nardella. “The project of Dolce&Gabbana will also involve another one of our excellences, that of craftsmanship, and will revive the interest of international investors in our territory. In the year of the inevitable and painful postponement of Pitti Uomo, it is without a doubt one of the first steps towards a return to normality and further proof that Florence always has a role of primary importance in the panorama of creativity and international culture”.
"The terrible pandemic we have gone through and which is still not completely avoided - says Tommaso Sacchi, councilor for culture, fashion and design of the Municipality of Florence - has not turn off the desire for creativity, initiative and culture which is one of the main characteristics of Florence. The event that Dolce & Gabbana will create as a tribute to the city and to Pitti Immagine goes precisely in this direction and pushes us even more to engage in the rebirth of the city and its cultural institutions".
