For SS22, Harris Wharf London makes work-wear leisure-friendly

The recent zeitgeist has prompted us to question and rethink almost every aspect of our quotidian: our schedules, our lifestyle, our preferences, our understanding of time. Last but not least, it’s led to significant readjustments in the sartorial sphere. Today, our wardrobes need to be increasingly versatile, and flexibility has become a must to cater to packed days with reduced mobility. When it comes to the realm of menswear, there is little doubt that this season’s main style guideline is comfort. However, the boundaries of work and leisure may get blurrier than ever before, so finding a way to combine the best of on and off-duty has become a key challenge taken on by designers this year.

One such notable effort can be seen in Harris Wharf’s latest collection. Founded in 2010 by siblings Giulia and Aldo Acchiardi, the London-based brand has, over the past decade, established itself as an emerging household name for all lovers of elegant, understated British style. For SS22, the label offers a minimalistic take on workwear, with a new range of chore jackets and overshirts in twill, linen hopsack, and water repellent technical jersey fabrics. The collection was designed to express a sense of practicality coupled with a pared-back aesthetic, epitomizing Harris Wharf’s trademark modern take on classic utility wear. This season’s coats and outerwear jackets experiment with a variety of shades from brights to earthy colors, often combining them into bi-color pieces — maintaining originality while celebrating the discreet, noble and subdued DNA of classic London tailoring.

Harris Wharf stays true to its core aesthetic values by prizing simplicity over frill. As such, the essential construction of the latest collection features an unlined structure paired with the extraordinary comfort of jersey to allow for free movement and, naturally, the possibility of layering. This season, in true British fashion, the main fabric is a water-repellent technical jersey, which varies from oversized shapes to straight fits. With a continued focus on soft tailoring, they also experiment with slouchy, relaxed blazers that smoothly transition from busy work days to leisure time.
