This season, Milanese label Save the Duck celebrates 10 years of luxurious, cruelty-free outerwear

Exhibitors Spotlight focuses on a selection of brands exhibiting at this year's Pitti Uomo, showcasing their upcoming collections and special upcoming projects.

As fast fashion slowly fossilizes into a relic of the past, leaving space for conscious buying and sustainable production methods, the environmentally aware mindset has been progressively decimating the archaic industry status quo of the last decades. At the same time, as global activity begins to resume, the logistical constraints of the pandemic are prompting both companies and individuals to thoroughly reconsider the ecological footprint of our pre-COVID lifestyle, frantic consumerism, and travel patterns.
Inspired by the world’s reopening, whilst counting on us having learned our lessons, Save the Duck proposes a collection with a timely message at its core. For SS22, the entirely animal-free outerwear label was informed by the slogan “so close yet so far”: a mindful overview of the world’s transformation, with consideration for the changes in our collective practices, values, and desires that accompany it. What if, instead of reviving entrenched and harmful habits, we surrendered to the call of the wild, and rekindled our inborn bond with nature?
Founded in 2012 by Nicolas Bargi, Save the Duck is a new and innovative brand with a multi-generational conscious manufacturing legacy dating back to 1914. As it nears its first decade of business, the Italian brand brandishes a well-defined approach to style as luxurious, superlative in quality, and proudly respectful of all living beings — thus joining into a recent wave of high-end designers banning the use of animal-derived products, proving that style doesn’t have to come at the cost of cruelty or ecological disaster.
The garment selection included in Save the Duck’s SS22 collection ranges from puffer jackets to sweatshirts, T-shirts, and polos fleshed out with soft, fluid lines — ideal for the urban commuter and the adventurous natural explorers alike.

Honoring their long-term commitment to the animal cause, this season, the Milan-based brand additionally partnered up with wildlife protection organization WildAid for a special capsule collection sourcing inspiration in the beauty of five severely endangered marine species. As it stands, a motivated, educated, and enlightened consumer is the fashion aficionado of the future.
