During Pitti Uomo 105, the institute's students will be guided by renowned photographer Maurizio Galimberti in creating three artistic installations for the Cartier boutique windows in Via Strozzi, Florence.

The installations will incorporate recycled materials from previous displays provided by Pardgroup, a historic Italian company known for its global retail design and shop fitting services for luxury brands. This project is part of the sustainability-oriented initiative Dis-Cycling's second chapter, following a successful first edition featuring artist Sarah Coleman and Fendi.

The creative process draws inspiration from three iconic accessories of the brand, linking the students' installations with Galimberti's photo mosaics. Galimberti, an artist who transformed the use of instant film and made Polaroid his trademark, will be the project's mentor, working closely with students from Multimedia Art, Arts Curating, and Fashion Styling courses.
It will be wonderful to engage in dialogue with young creatives who can offer me a pure and dream-filled perspective. I want them to understand the importance of shedding their cultural background and striving to create something personal. It doesn't have to be an invention, but rather a reinterpretation of what history has brought forth before them

— Maurizio Galimberti

With the second edition of Dis-Cycling, we aim to once again convey the complex identity of Istituto Marangoni Firenze through an experimental project centered around sustainability and interdisciplinarity

— Francesca Giulia Tavanti, Director of Education at Istituto Marangoni Firenze

Collaborating with Cartier and Maurizio Galimberti allows students to apply their academic skills. The project will also feature visual artist Daniele Veronesi as a guest tutor. Upcycling is central to the creative process. Discarded materials are reimagined and deconstructed for a new purpose, demonstrating how recycling and reuse can inspire fashion and art with materials supplied by Pardgroup.
At Pardgroup, we strongly believe in sustainability and social commitment towards a circular economy. In addition to choosing environmentally friendly materials and processes, we aim to provide our clients with upcycling options, ensuring a second life for materials

— Francesca Rapisardi, General Manager of Pardgroup

Dis-Cycling is part of the Istituto Marangoni Firenze Mentorship Program for 2023/2024, which will feature art and fashion figures like visual artist Giuseppe Lo Schiavo, ACT N°1 creative director Luca Lin, and Medea founders Camilla and Giulia Venturini.
