VINTAGE&REPUBLIC, founded in 2011 based in Shanghai. By witness an explosion of an old textile factory which were last almost half century , We decided to make the good quality of China to be continued. At the beginning of 20century, Fast fashion industry grown madly. On the hand, our old machines, old factories are fading away of the market as they have slower speed of Manufacture. Fortunately, we saved few old machines from destroyed such as Tomkins knitting machines. The old mates are still slowly working with us. In colonial period of the 1920s Shanghai was one of the most elegant places in Asia:perhaps the world. This was a unique period in Shanghai history and the city catered for the tastes of European diplomats and traders, fugitive bar owners fleeing American prohibition and seamen from all nations. This has influenced our design ideas, but so has the exacting and demanding needs of the Chinese army of 1970s and 80s. In this period military designers mixed traditional cotton quilting methods with classic designs in cotton and wool. VINTAGE&REPUBLIC now reproduces these functional and stylish wear in new and casual way. This is something unusual and we believe we are the only brand producing garments of this type at this level.
