Brand Profile
Founded in 1845, Mackie is a Scottish knitwear maker with a long tradition of producing high-quality accessories using natural fibres and time-honoured techniques.
What began as a specialist maker of traditional Scottish bonnets has evolved into a collection of hats, scarves and gloves known for their craftsmanship, colour and distinctive character.
For almost two centuries, our work has been guided by the skills passed through generations of makers. Every piece is produced in our own mill in Scotland, where knitting, linking, finishing and quality checks all take place under one roof. This allows us to maintain exceptional standards while preserving the knowledge and techniques that define Scottish knitwear.
We work exclusively with natural fibres, lambswool, cashmere and selected wool blends, chosen for their warmth, durability and comfort. These materials develop their own softness and depth over time, creating pieces made to be worn, cared for and kept.
Our design approach blends heritage with a contemporary sensibility. Classic patterns, archive references and a thoughtful use of colour are reinterpreted each season to create accessories that feel modern yet rooted in tradition. While we introduce new shapes and tones, many of our earliest styles remain part of the collection, reflecting our belief in continuity and enduring design.
Today, Mackie works with leading retailers and heritage brands around the world, offering knitwear that combines authenticity, material integrity and a strong sense of place.
