Camper first teamed up with the Ethical Fashion Initiative* back in 2015, combining more than 140 years of shoemaking expertise with the rich history of African techniques and materials.

A new project starts this season with the team in Burkina Faso, West Africa, where a unique dyeing technique is used on organic cotton to create an original tie-dye design. Paraffin is heated, a design is stamped on using different symbols and colour is added by dyeing the fabric twice.

The textile production, mostly involving women, helps to support workers’ access to employment, knowledge, and skills, creating a positive social impact.

The Ethical Fashion Initiative is a flagship program of the International Trade Centre, a joint agency of the International Trade Centre and the United Nations. Their goal is to empower micro-producers in developing countries by connecting them with top brands from the fashion industry.
