After stops in cities including New York, Tokyo, and London, leading Japanese retailer Beams brings “Expedition Club” to Pitti Uomo 111, an immersive exhibition inspired by “Outdoor Expedition Book 99,” the ninth volume in the “I Am Beams” series. The book explores the passion of Shigeru Kaneko, Chief Buyer of Beams Plus, for collecting and reinterpreting rare outdoor gear. Launched in 1999, Beams Plus is a menswear line known for its timeless style rooted in classic Americana. 

At the Fortezza da Basso in January, Expedition Club will offer an in-depth journey through the history and evolution of outdoor apparel. Visitors to Pitti Uomo will discover a carefully curated selection of rare down parkas from Kaneko’s personal collection of more than 100 vintage outerwear pieces, alongside historic outdoor catalogs from the Outdoor Recreation Archive at Utah State University, materials not typically available on public display. The exhibition offers an opportunity to rediscover the value of archives and historical research as sources of aesthetic inspiration and tools for design and innovation in menswear.
