At 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, 15 June Gosha Rubchinskiy, the Russian designer whose creative innovations have been consistently attracting the international fashion community’s attention, will be at the Manifattura Tabacchi to present his 2017 Spring Summer collection. This, his first-ever showing in Florence, will be a special event that includes a photography project and a video created for the occasion.

In the space of just a few seasons, Gosha Rubchinskiy’s menswear has garnered the attention of the international fashion community. Since 2012, his brand has been produced and distributed by Comme des Garçons.

This young Russian designer’s research combines the hard and tormenting aesthetic of post-Soviet youth culture in Russia with elegant notes of sportswear and artistic concepts that come from photography and movies – true passions and essential points in his training and development. Everything is filtered and interpreted through his skillful, and almost obsessive, use of multimedia technologies. It is precisely this vibrant system of references and languages that allow him to express profound social commentary.

The Special Project

“The Day of My Death”, a special installation will be unveiled on Thursday, 16 June, at the Galleria Discovery (Via Faenza 113). The designer’s creative world will be revealed through an exhibition of 18 photographs, and the film that Gosha Rubchinskiy shot at the Manifattura Tabacchi in April. The installation will be on view throughout the Pitti Immagine summer fairs.

Florence and Italy, their history, cinema, art and fashion have been the inspiration for my SS2017 collection.
I am very excited to have been given the opportunity to bring a new Russian Renaissance to a city with such a rich history.
