Nicolas Bargi launched Save The Duck in 2012 with one overarching agenda: create a brand that respects animals, the environment, and people, without compromising the design. Almost one decade later and that goal has absolutely been achieved; it’s now the first fashion brand to become a Benefit Company in the Italian Fashion System, committed to operating in a responsible, sustainable, and transparent way. This season’s offering celebrates that milestone and Save the Duck’s 10th anniversary.
The overarching inspiration for FW22, the brand tells us, is “‘our little blue dot’ — the earth — and young figures who are somehow trying to change our planet in a better way. From the world of sport to activists, “Changemaker” generations are fighting for a better and stable future by integrating different values and points of view together with knowledge, skills, and passion. Save The Duck’s entire collection wants to be a representation of change without forgetting fashion, coolness, positivity, and fun.”
Elsewhere in its FW22 offering, Save the Duck continues its original, exclusive capsule collections in collaboration with WILDAID, an association that works to protect wildlife. The activism that lies at the heart of the brand is proudly expressed within the capsule, which includes puffer jackets, polos, T-shirts, and sweaters, created with recycled materials. Moreover, the line champions five marine animals that are gravely threatened by man and climate change — these animals replace the brand’s iconic whistling duck motif, which steps aside to make space across the capsule’s branding. Information on each animal is included inside the puffer jackets, enabling consumers to make an educated choice.
WILDAID isn’t the only collab we have to look forward to this season, either. Save the Duck is continuing its connection with British stylist, designer, and consultant, Edward Crutchley, for the PRO-TECH collection, a genderless line that aims to promote inclusivity and diversity. Elsewhere, the brand has teamed up with the iconic London raincoat brand, Mackintosh, for a series of clean, ultra-contemporary raincoats. And, as always, every product is 100% cruelty-free.
