Blundstone’s story had its beginnings in 1853, when James and Thomas Cuthbertson, brothers from England, set sail on the Coromandel ship, headed for Melbourne, Australia. As fate would have it, their ship was blown off course and instead docked in Hobart Town, Tasmania. James made Hobart his home, where he put his shoemaking skills to work and started his own business making and importing shoes. Meanwhile, John and Eliza Blundstone arrived in Hobart where they founded John Blundstone and Son. Some years later, these two businesses merged to become what we now know as Blundstone, and soon after the classic Blundstone boot became a worldwide icon, loved for its minimal design, comfort and reliability.
