Castañer, 100 years of Mediterranean craftsmanship

Edition 110
Pitti Uomo 110 marks the beginning of the celebrations for Castañer's centenary.
From its very debut, the brand has represented a distinctive point of view: a Mediterranean approach to design, essential, tactile and intentional. The iconic espadrilles with their braided jute sole, a timeless symbol of elegance and craftsmanship, first made in 1927 in a small atelier, remain a summer must-have. Worth noting: the jute wedge, an original design that redefined fashion in collaboration with Yves Saint Laurent in the 1970s, is now part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.
For nearly a century, the brand has remained rooted in its workshops in Spain, where craftsmanship is not a concept but a daily practice. Every creation reflects a balance between material authenticity, technical expertise and a contemporary design language. Today Castañer is present in over 20 countries, with 30 mono-brand stores and more than 900 multi-brand retailers worldwide. The brand continues to expand its presence in key international markets, evolving beyond its original category toward a broader lifestyle universe.
