Lagos-based WUMAN is the brainchild of Nigerian fashion artist Ekwerike Chukwuma, who see the brand as an agent for positive change, working towards uplifting African heritage.
Inspired by female anatomy, which Chukwuma fell in love with during his medical school days at University, his art/fashion is a way of directly expressing thoughts around heritage, observations, abstraction, architecture, geometry and affinities to create garments that are not just visually appealing but also culturally stimulating, contemporary and further highlight African heritage.
Wuman is one of the five African brands chosen for the Ethical Fashion Initiative Accelerator Programme, and will be the protagonist of a special project during Pitti Immagine Uomo 99, in January 2021.
