Faliero Sarti, The Brand Where Every Scarf Tells a Story

Exhibitors Spotlight focuses on a selection of brands exhibiting at this year's Pitti Uomo, showcasing their upcoming collections and special upcoming projects.

When Businessman Faliero Sarti decided to experiment with noble yarns in 1949, he created the blueprint for what would go on to be a globally recognized scarf brand. Known for using soft and lightweight fabrics, the brand designs pieces with bold colors and subtle details. Its first scarves featured the insignia of several flags before the brand moved on to eclectic designs such as hearts, subway maps, photography, and good luck charms.
For its FW 21 collection, the brand adopts themes of symbols: deciphering the meanings of astrology, Italy: paying homage to iconic stamps and characters such as Dante Alighieri, creator of the Italian language, and the Smiley: the ‘happiest symbol in the world’.
Fabrics have always played an integral role in the Faliero Sarti aesthetic. Favorites such as the Alexia and Adriel have evolved thanks to vivid prints, including a statement Prince of Wales herringbone.
The palette of the collection features warm and reassuring shades inspired by nature. From almost burnt beige and browns characterized via brushed details to bold red, purple, yellow, and Tuareg blue, articulating the theme of escape. Looking back to go forward, the past is represented via geometric patterns taken from its 70 year plus historical archive.
With an eye on eco-friendly procedures, some fabrics are elevated with upcycled yarns.
